Mittenwald Alpenwelt Karwendel
About Mittenwald
At 920m in altitude, Mittenwald is one of the most beautiful mountain villages in the Alps, and is also widely renowned as a centre of violin-making.
It offers impressive mountain scenery, picturesque village streets with a pedestrianised area in the historic centre, and wonderful outdoor activities (walking, mountain climbing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, cycling, mountain biking, swimming, etc.) all year round. The Karwendel cable car and Kranzberg chairlift provide a comfortable journey up to this stunning alpine landscape and down again.
Mittenwald and its rural campsite also make a good base for excursions to places between Munich and Innsbruck, such as the royal palaces, Ettal Abbey, Oberammergau and Garmisch-Partenkirchen, from where you can go up the Zugspitze, Germany’s highest peak.
